Originally mixed @A00062@ resulting from the @A00512@ of a @G02665@ to a non-acyl group RO– (which itself may be derived from a @S05441@ and chalcogen replacements thereof (RS–, RSe–).

The bond between the @G02665@ and the OR group is called a glycosidic bond. By extension, the terms N-glycosides and C-glycosides are used as class names for @G02663@ and for compounds having a @G02665@ attached to a hydrocarbyl group respectively.

These terms are misnomers and should not be used. The preferred terms are @G02663@ and C-glycosyl compounds, respectively.
