  1. Organically modified silicas can be obtained by @S05727@-@G02600@ processing.
  2. An organically modified silica is of general structure (RO)aSi(B)b(C)c(D)d, where (a+b+c+d)=4, R is any alkyl, aryl or heteroaryl group and B, C and D are generally organic groups.
  3. Though it is a commonly used acronym for organically modified silica, 'Ormosil' is a trademark and as such its terminological use is discouraged.
