https://doi.org/10.1351/goldbook.G02690

Definition:
A non-graphitic carbon which upon graphitization heat treatment converts into graphitic carbon.

Note: If it is preferred to define the characterizable state of material instead of its behaviour during subsequent treatment, the term 'pregraphitic carbon' could be considered.
