Device that stores information in the form of charge packets in an array of closely spaced capacitors.
Notes: - The packets can be transferred from one capacitor to the next sequentially by electronic manipulation, so that the information contained in the array can be sequentially read electronically.
- In spectroscopy, the charge packets are created by interaction with electromagnetic radiation and the devices are extremely sensitive detectors for near infrared and visible radiation.
