A carbonaceous material intermediate between a fusible @M03850@ and a non-deformable @G02697@ produced by incomplete @C00840@ at temperatures between the onset of fusion (of coal, ca.\(620\ \text{K}\)), and complete devolatilization. Semicoke still contains volatile matter, therefore.

Semicoke may be conceived as covering a continuous range from coal that has not yet been fused to @C01143@. Semicoke can also be used as a @F02363@ in carbon mixtures.
