Boltzmann distribution of nuclear spins

https://doi.org/10.1351/goldbook.08316
Distribution of nuclear spins among their possible energy levels at thermal equilibrium.
Note:
For a positive magnetogyric ratio, produces population excess (polarization) in the direction of B0. The population difference between the spin state can be expressed as NiN=eεi/kTj=1Meεj/kT where T is the thermodynamic temperature, k is the Boltzmann constant, Ni is the number of spins in excited state i, N is the total number of spins and εi and εj are the energies of states i and j respectively, and M is the number of possible energy levels.
