A disc electrode with a thin circular jet of fluid impinging on its centre.

Notes:
  1. The limiting current is given by Ilim=1.59 kzFr3/4d1/2Vf3/4υ5/12D2/3c where 1.59 is a numerical factor that arises from the mathematical solution to the convective-diffusion system, k is an empirical factor with values between 0.90 and 0.96, z the electron number of an electrochemical reaction, and F the Faraday constant, r is the radius of the disc electrode (cm), d is the diameter of the impinging jet (cm), Vf is the volume flow rate (cm3s1), ν the kinematic viscosity (cm2s1), and D the diffusion coefficient of the electroactive species (cm2s1) of concentration c (molcm3).
  2. The current is not directly proportional to the electrode area.
