chemical induction (coupling)

When in a chemical system one reaction accelerates another there is said to be chemical induction or coupling. It is due to an intermediate or product of the inducing reaction participating in the second reaction. Chemical induction is often observed in oxidation–reduction reactions, chain reactions, and biological reactions. Sometimes a reaction having ΔG⚬>0 is induced by a simultaneous process having ΔG⚬<0.
