Charge-transfer agent used to generate, by oxidation or reduction, positive or negative charges in an intrinsically conducting polymer.
Note:
Examples of dopants include AsF5 or I2 as oxidizing agents, generating cation radicals on the chains of an intrinsically conducting polymer (so-called holes), or a solution of sodium naphthalenuidyl in tetrahydrofuran as a reducing agent, generating anion radicals on the chains of an intrinsically conducting polymer.
