extraction
operation or process in which a metal from one phase is exchanged with the equivalent amount of a second metal from the other phase.
Notes:
  1. This term may be used in connection with any step (e.g. loading,
    scrubbing
    or
    stripping
    in a process).
  2. This applies also to organic or molecular species.
